I'm BACK!
and i'm missing Nana and Chiangmai and Maesot already.
There's still so many things to say about my trip, don't know where to start. Maybe uploading the pictures will help, but im too lazy to transfer those taken from dad's camera to the computer now and also waiting for nana's pictures.

Some random stuff:
Singapore looks really nice from the plane.
Auntie Jas is an awesome person to hang out with.
Seeing the scooters in Chiangmai makes me green-eyed with envy.
And me and nana saw a cutecutecuteCUTE thai guy yesterday in the little souvenier shop.
*sighs* (:

sheela beams at internet access!

Hello. I'm in thailand right now. In Maesot which is apparently right next to Myanmmar. Cool. We're gonna see the border/bridge tomorrow. They call it the "Friendship bridge". Dad brought us to see some Indian families that they got to know here, most of them are working in the wet market which has really huge disgusting looking fat frogs for sale! Eeeeeww.
We finished our health talk to the kids in Elpis Centre. There's so many of them! We taught about 168 children from the kindergarden grades to grade 6 today. Most of them are so adorable. There's some handsome looking children too.
Me and Nana kept going "potential, potential" (Potential hunks when their older)

The health talk today was more fun than yesterday, we didn't expect our lessons to be so short. But the kids enjoyed today's one better. Will upload the pics once nana sends me the photos taken by her camera. (: Soooo happy. Love love love the kids there. There's this young, cute guy called "Tongtongwin", my translator for the moment. He's english is pretty good. His 14 years and already knows how to ride the motorbike.
And the kids have all these very long interesting names that's so hard to remember. I don't know how the teachers there remember them so fast.

There was this cute little two year old one.. one of our favourites. His mom died about 3 months ago, and his father is working, so the school accepted him. Normally they don't take in kids so young. He comes with his two older brothers who are not that old too. The eldest is kinda matured for his age, his about 4-5years old. It's a little sad knowing that he has to become the mum at such a young tender age. But i'm amazed at how the kids look after and care for each other. Their all so polite too. "Good morning Teacher!", the young ones keep telling us this even if it's already 3 in the afternoon and says this instead of "thank you" when we're handing out the gifts. And they all sing so well! Nana and I taught them some action songs yesterday, so they echo-ed after us. They not only pronounced english so well, they had the correct tune too!
Seeing them reminds me how priveledge we are in Singapore. Some kids run around barefooted, i suppose 'cos their slippers are worn out..I guess that's why their polite, humble, grateful. So different from the way we live our lives in Singapore. Many times we take alot of things for granted.

The guesthouse that we're currently staying at is super awesome!!!
Love the rooms. We get channels from korea and bollywood too! Wheeeeeeeee.. The service here is so good, tho' it's just a small guesthouse, we get free yummy breakfast! (: Wheeeee..
The food here is great, and super cheap at that too. We had a meal with quite a few dishes.Rice with stir fried beef, veggie, egg and tom yam ("tom" is soup by the way, so when we say "tom yam soup", we're saying "soup yam soup") and all that cost only 290baht! About 13 sing dollars to feed and make four people full. (:
(Go read nana's blog to see how most of the restaurants spell "baht", she's blogging right next to me actually, the guesthouse has got computers with internet access for the guests to use and its for free, the owner's a really nice man with such a hearty laughter.)

This trip so far has been wonderful, but Thailand's so hot now, and super dusty too. Most of the females here rides bikes and scooters! Girl Power!! Even aunties ride scooters here too. Auntie Powweerrr!! In Chiangmai, the traffic is heavy with bikes and scooters. Stayed with auntie Jas in Chiangmai for 2 days. Most of the youth now has changed church, so i saw only Tee, Nu and Suwitt. Suwitt was our driver for the first two days. His really amazing, he drove us to and fro Pong Ang village, and the ride is about 2-3hours, i felt a little bad after that 'cos its tiring to drive that long, it was really early when we left to go to the village and we were all tired when coming back. While me and nana was sleeping, he was awake driving us safely to and fro. *Suwitt, our hero!* We actually started calling him "my hero" 3 years back, when he saved our van from falling down a cliff. His english is getting really good, my first trip he couldn't really converse to us, now he understands well, and anwers us well too.

Dad said i'll come more often here in time to come (: Initially he wanted me to stay and help out in Elpis Centre for two weeks. And then stay in Chiangmai for a week.
Seriously i don't mind that.
In future i don't mind coming to countries like this, teaching on health education/stuff like that.. sharing the knowledge that we have, building relationships.

I know i'm ranting so much now like a child.
But the keyboard's difficult to type on, so i'll end my post here.

Alright, i have to admit. I'm grateful for all those pesky, irritating ICAs and presentations i had to do in poly. Because it's helping me alot in my preparation for the child health education talk i'm gonna do. I'm feeling a little panicky now, i know, it's not like the kids are gonna grade me. But i'm STILL panicking! Hopefully what both me and nana come out with, our presentation will be interesting. If only my honey, Serene Low, the early childhood education teacher is coming along.. Oh, but nevertheless i can't wait to be there in Thailand! Can't wait to see all the kids. (:

And thanks cheryl, i absolutely loved what you did to the photo (:

Was looking through old pictures, sorting them out actually, and i can't help but smile as the memories all flood back. That's the beauty of taking photos, because we're not just taking pictures of faces, but capturing the moment too.
Here's some.

the original/"old" Misait girls (:

dance item, year 2005 (:

new team (:

second liner's girls.
a super super super old picture, probably taken in 2001-2002!

this one was in 2004.(:

chris and nana (:

haha, and above are my beloved drawings done when the three of us (me, chris and nana) were preparing for the mission trip to Philippines in 2006. Im super proud of these okay, finally drawings of men really did look like men. Imagine not being an experienced artist but having to draw out pictures/scenes with two people especially christian russel b. dela cruz, commenting "eh, why your guy look like a girl?"

You Are Right Brained In Love

Bit of a drama queen
Peacemaker, first to end a fight
Good at thinking up creative dates
Tend to fall in love and get hurt easily
Going with your gut instead of your head
Empathetic and caring, sometimes to a fault
Good at recognizing patterns in relationships
Been in love many times, perhaps too many to count
Wildly passionate and intense when falling in love
Spontaneous with relationships, going with the flow
Overly visual - can play back past dates like movies in your mind
Roses, love poems, and stuffed animals are a good start to winning your heart
Are You a Right Brained or Left Brained Woman in Love?

If your wondering, yeap, what's written above is mostly true. Went out with Chris and J.K. today and spent hours in SKS bookshop. At one time the three of us just sat on the stools provided by the kind owner/bookshopkeeper. A great comfort for tired legs, especially if your there with J.K. (: Anyway, the reason why i'm typing all this is because girls, if Chris ever ask you about the "list" that you've made - a list of the characteristics your potential boyfriend/husband should have or what you're looking for in a guy, don't tell Chris!!! You'll regret it immediately.
Anyway, my trips to Thailand and Philippines will be from 22nd Feb-29th Feb and 16th March-26th March respectively. Dad told me that i've got to prepare 2 sessions, each an hour to two hours worth, of health education for the children in Maesot/Thailand! And from what i know of the children centre there is that there's so many of them! How am i gonna teach? No, what exactly am i gonna teach them?!
I now feel like im back in school, doing one of those irritating ICAs... except that this time round i'm actually gonna present and teach the kids. Thank God i've got Nana (: , i can't imagine preparing, brainstorming and presenting all on my own!

eastcoast. (:

Picnic on tuesday with few of the ward staff and us students was a blast. The surprise party for Diana went smoothly.Cycling was great. Tried the twin bike for the first time and loved riding it(those two seater bikes). Partnered with Min first, cycled till our bums hurt. We probably rode fast 'cause we lost Kak Su, Siti and Nat.
After resting awhile, we decided to cycle again, this time Nat wanted to partner Min and seat at the front seat (i still laugh when i recall how the two of them were struggling, especially Min, he seemed not to know when he should start cycling). We made it into a competition later on, see which "team" cycles the fastest. Kak Su (she took the single bike) couldn't be bothered with us.

Lessons learnt:
  • DO NOT put Adidas Fruity Fragrance on you to East Coast cos' it won't attract hunks, only flies. (poor Nisa)
  • If you choose to ride the two seater bikes and Nat's your partner, let her seat at the back (: (hahaha, the lovely lady was hilarious!)
  • DO NOT share creepy stories of the ward when its dark. East Coast at night is already creepy enough.
waiting for the group photos now.

Watched "Sweeney Todd" (no. 1 of wish list checked) yesterday with Kak Su, Siti and Muhaimin (that's him there; the hottest guy in the ward, haha).

The show's quite good, pretty gory actually, it made killing look so easy. The tunes are addictive but not in the saccharine, head-bobbing, thumb-snapping, smiles-all-wide way. Unlike the other musical, "Hairspray", where they can sing all they want, you just hum along without listening to the words at all and still get/understand the show, in "Sweeney Todd" you need to listen really carefully. Because the words in the songs carries more depth, more angst, feelings, crucial in the show. Not just another dance number.

So, although the songs in "Sweeney" were intriguing and captivating, its not a wonder why i can't remember how most of the songs goes now except for a line or two.
Dance numbers, like the songs in "Hairspray" are the ones that always stay in my head for days, are not those type of songs easier to catch?
Anyway, i've always liked Johnny Depp, but this show made me love his voice too. (:
Also watched "The Mist" based on an adaptation by Stephen King, on friday with some of the classmates. Another good show, because you feel for the characters, you get pissed along with them, and when they've lost hope, you feel the same too.
My only grouse is the ending. Heart wrenching, but typical.
The whole theatre was quiet, a few gasps. The credits came, heard the girl behind say "So sad", turned to Siti (another Siti - my class's Siti) and the first thing she said was "I don't wanna talk about the show. Okay, forget it. Forget it" with her fingers on her temples, shaking her head.
When it comes to the last day of anything - school, work, camps.. there's bound to be lots of photo-taking thus lots of pictures.
Finished my 3 months of PRCP. And it's the first day of my holidays today. Holidays until i get a job.
Finally, after such a long, long, long time. I get to wake up at 12pm today.

the outing with Kak Su last week.
Pictures taken on our supposedly "last day" in the hospital. Lay Hoon organized activities for us to do:

a consolidation and making a card for our wards.
Our card looked like it was made by primary school kids, but we still loved it anyway.

From left to right - Peter, Nat, Me, Siti, Mei Yi, Nisah, Nang Hlaing.

pictures in the ward:

pictures with doctors =) :

with the cute dr. leong.

and with sweet dr.yan.
i enjoyed working in that ward, really did. The fellow student nurses (the NYP and the 2 NP students) all made my days. Patients were hilarious and the ward staffs were great!
I'm certain that i'll miss the people, working with them, making sure all our patients were alright and the plans for them were carried out. Maybe that's probably just gonna be the only thing why i'm gonna miss PRCP, the relationships i've made.
