Watched "Sweeney Todd" (no. 1 of wish list checked) yesterday with Kak Su, Siti and Muhaimin (that's him there; the hottest guy in the ward, haha).

The show's quite good, pretty gory actually, it made killing look so easy. The tunes are addictive but not in the saccharine, head-bobbing, thumb-snapping, smiles-all-wide way. Unlike the other musical, "Hairspray", where they can sing all they want, you just hum along without listening to the words at all and still get/understand the show, in "Sweeney Todd" you need to listen really carefully. Because the words in the songs carries more depth, more angst, feelings, crucial in the show. Not just another dance number.

So, although the songs in "Sweeney" were intriguing and captivating, its not a wonder why i can't remember how most of the songs goes now except for a line or two.
Dance numbers, like the songs in "Hairspray" are the ones that always stay in my head for days, are not those type of songs easier to catch?
Anyway, i've always liked Johnny Depp, but this show made me love his voice too. (:
Also watched "The Mist" based on an adaptation by Stephen King, on friday with some of the classmates. Another good show, because you feel for the characters, you get pissed along with them, and when they've lost hope, you feel the same too.
My only grouse is the ending. Heart wrenching, but typical.
The whole theatre was quiet, a few gasps. The credits came, heard the girl behind say "So sad", turned to Siti (another Siti - my class's Siti) and the first thing she said was "I don't wanna talk about the show. Okay, forget it. Forget it" with her fingers on her temples, shaking her head.
